One of the most frequent questions that I get from my clients is how to lose belly fat. You see, many folks are confused and
need to know whether or not cardio exercises is better for getting rid of stubborn belly fat than weight training. Or they wonder if the usual
aerobic exercises is superior to interval training. The truth is, aerobic or cardio exercises is NOT the best way to get rid of belly fat.
Interval training exercises give you a much BETTER fat melting workout that will reduce your stomach fat.
With over fifteen years of experience helping my clients, training my body, training for athletic competition, spending tons of time in the
health club, AND applying laboratory research on various exercise methods, I am fairly sure which exercises works and which ones don't.
However, I want to "box" my responses. I'm going to tell you what works for folks that have a limited amount of time for activities, mainly
because I expect my readers don't have the ninty minutes per day put aside for a workout. Most people are NOT represented by the typical audience
of a major fitness magazine.
This is why there is a big difference between some of the health and fitness infomation found in these periodicals and the ability of the
reader to apply it to their lifestyle.
I think you will agree with me here that we just don't have six to eight hours every week for robust activity, nor do we need it. If you're a
triathlete, you might need that, but not someone that just wants to lose belly fat and gain muscle tone.
So the bottom line for getting a better body is...
Use bodyweight exercises to warm-up, strength training sets to build your muscles, and then end your workout with interval training to blast
off your fat in a short amount of time. I've structured my Turbulence Training system so that you are in and out of the health club in 45 minutes
or less, no more than three times per week.
And you'll start off by doing five minutes of bodyweight exercise routines to warm-up. This is a much more efficient approach than spending 5
minutes riding on a club bicycle, which really doesn't prepare you for anything except more riding on the stationary bicycle.
Next, we will move into the strength workout supersets, where we use 2 exercises done right after each other with minimum rest between each
set. This will cut down our workout time, while still giving our bodies the maximum results. We only need twenty minutes for this phase, and
we'll just use simple exercises, and sometimes use more more bodyweight exercises, depending on the client's goal for muscle toning and fat
loss.
For the grand finale, we'll do just eighteen minutes of interval training. A warm-up followed by 6 quick intervals at the individualized
fitness level for the client. And sure, you will have short amounts of low intensity recovery time and finish off your whole workout with a
cool-down routine. The total amount of time? forty five minutes!
If you compare the exercise routine above to what most people are doing -- which is running, jogging, cycling or using the cardio machines for
forty five minutes straight. Sure, that will burn off calories, but it WON'T build a toned and sleek body.
To be honest with you, there are "dark sides" to long slow cardio exercises and they are for example, overuse injuries, and inefficient for of
exercise. If you only have thirty to forty minutes for your workout routine and you spend it all on a cardio machine, how are you going to train
the rest of your major muscle groups and sculpt a better body?
In my expert opinion, the very best way to burn belly fat is following a combination of strength training and interval training routines.
My exercise routines are fast, they work and they are definitely more
fun!
